Barcelona facing hurdles in the sale of three players

June 8, 2023

FC Barcelona continue their conquest of bringing together a squad of compatible and quality players so that the club can once again compete for various titles across Europe.

Following the rather disheartening reports for most Barcelona fans involving a certain Argentine by the name of Lionel Messi, who is speculated to be on his way to David Beckham’s Inter Miami in the MLS, there are now further complications to deal with.

According to SPORT, as the club now looks to ensure the rest of Xavi Hernandez’s priorities for the summer in terms of recruits, sales have once more become a pivotal concern. As per the report, the three players that FC Barcelona considers dispensable as of this moment and are actively looking for potential buyers for Ansu Fati, Ferran Torres, and Franck Kessie.

The Spanish duo has arguably underperformed this season for the Catalan club. Ferran Torres, on the one hand, has been rather rarely used by Xavi despite no apparent fitness concerns and he continues to be down the pecking list for forwards.

On the other hand, Ansu Fati remains a complicated case. Despite the club regarding him as an asset whose sale would bring in substantial funds and one that would be surplus to requirements at FC Barcelona, he continues to create doubt through his stronger performances.

Particularly near the last few match days of La Liga Santander, the number 10 showcased his elite goalscoring abilities as well as his off-the-ball involvement which constantly caused the opposition problems. The player himself wishes to stay at the club despite other plans as of right now, however, and this, in turn, is causing complications to arise.

Lastly, Franck Kessie is speculated to leave following just his first season at the club. Not among Xavi’s first choices in midfield, the Ivorian’s value in the eyes of Barcelona is set near the €30 million mark.

As of right now, complications arise from the perspective of potential suitors, as some deny any interest at all while others such as Inter Milan consider a swap deal to be their preferred means of acquiring him. Barcelona, on the other hand, continues to insist upon direct funds instead.
