Barcelona could be set for financial boost from Mika Faye as Bayer Leverkusen eye defender
The youngster is wanted in Germany
Barcelona could be set for a financial windfall from Mikayil Faye who may be on the move before the January transfer window closes.
The defender joined French side Rennes in the summer but is being linked with a winter transfer to Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Leverkusen have been in touch about a possible deal and are now waiting for a response from Rennes.
Barcelona hold a 30% sell on clause, meaning they will profit from any transfer for the defender.
Barca reluctantly let Faye go in the summer in a deal worth €10.3 million. However, the defender has only made six starts for Rennes since, and the team are struggling down near the bottom of the Ligue 1 table.
A move to Leverkusen to play for Xavi Alonso’s reigning Bundesliga champions may well appeal to Faye. The Bundesliga side are hoping to strengthen their backline and Faye seems to be an option.
