Barcelona coach includes two prodigious cousins in his pre-season preparations
The moment of truth has finally arrived for FC Barcelona as they reach the beginning of the preseason. New head coach Hansi Flick will now finally get a chance to work with his players ahead of the new season. Initial impressions and developments will be key for Barcelona as they prepare for the official campaign.
However. it is also true that Barcelona will likely not be at full strength during this preseason at the start. Many of the regular first-team players are currently away on international duty and participating in various continental tournaments. That is why, to make up for their absence, an avalanche of youngsters has been called upon.
Many promising names from the youth sides of Barcelona, whether it be Barça Atletic or a Juvenil team, the new coach has grabbed promising players from every level. Still, one of the biggest surprise packages in the latest footage provided by the club was the inclusion of the two Fernandez cousins.
As highlighted by SPORT, both Guille and Toni Fernandez have both called upon by Hansi Flick. Toni, a 15-year-old forward from the Barcelona youth system, and Guille, a 16-year-old midfield talent with immense potential, are both cousins with a massive ceiling.
Their inclusion means that a 15-year-old talent and a 16-year-old prodigy will now also be a part of Flick’s preseason squad. While other Barcelona first team members such as Inigo Martinez, Inaki Pena, Oriol Romeu, Vitor Roque, and Alejandro Balde are also present, the presence of these two cousins is quite the interesting development.
The likes of Gavi and Frenkie De Jong were also seen, but they are still in recovery. Until they come back, alongside the stars currently on international duty, it is safe to assume that the youngsters of Barcelona will get their chance to shine.
With Toni Fernandez being a versatile forward and his cousin Guille being a more than capable midfielder, it is not hard to see Flick giving them some opportunities.
