BARCELONA ANNOUNCE YET ANOTHER FIRST-TEAM INJURY

July 17, 2024

La Liga giants Barcelona have on Tuesday announced a fresh blow on the personnel front.

The latest member of Hansi Flick’s squad to have picked up an injury problem? Pablo Torre.

Midfielder Torre, for his part, is fresh off linking back up with the rest of Barcelona’s squad, for pre-season training.

After a year on loan with Catalan rivals Girona, the 21-year-old is working to convince new headmaster Hansi Flick of his talents, hopeful of carving out a place for himself with the Blaugrana for the campaign ahead.

Such hopes on Torre’s part, however, have today been dealt a blow.

This comes amid confirmation that the Spaniard has suffered an injury, announced across Barca’s website and social media platforms on Tuesday evening:

‘Men’s first team player Pablo Torre fractured his fifth metacarpal bone in his left hand in an impact during today’s training session.

‘He is set to have surgery in the coming days under Doctor Xavi Mir’s supervision. A medical update will be provided once the intervention is complete.’

It is currently unclear how long Torre is expected to be unavailable for selection, but with time of the essence in his efforts to prove himself to the Barcelona coaching staff, today’s setback could not have come at a much worse time.
