With arrivals being closed and departures being finalized, the Catalans are preparing themselves for the final push.
However, amidst all the lights and stars of top-level players, at times the sight of important renewals is lost. Even more so when it comes to renewals of youth talents that are yet to completely set European football ablaze.
Yet, FC Barcelona have managed to come to an exciting agreement with one of the most promising stars in their new batch of youngsters. He shined throughout the pre-season, and now it seems like this particular 20-year-old is destined to do so for many years to come.
According to the ever-reliable source of Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, 20-year-old Fermin Lopez has reached a long-term agreement with FC Barcelona that sees him extend his continuity with the club until 2028.
Previously set to have his current contract expire in the upcoming summer of 2024, the renewal sees the midfielder continue in Barcelona for many years beyond that. Romano further reports that the player and Barcelona are expected to sign the renewal officially this Tuesday.
Moreover, the journalist offered further insight into the thought process of Barcelona, asserting that the club considers the player to be both “the present and future of the club.”
Fermin Lopez was an exciting part of the pre-season squad that went on tour to the United States of America. His defining moment will unarguably remain his performance against Real Madrid at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
His goal and assist against the El Clasico rivals were both a delight to see come to life. Since then, he has gone on to just recently having made his La Liga debut with the first team against Villarreal at the Estadio De La Ceramica.
