Arsenal next five fixtures compared to Man City and Liverpool in Premier League title battle

December 6, 2023

Arsenal endured a chaotic night at Kenilworth Road in Premier League action with Declan Rice scoring a last-gasp header to beat Luton Town 4-3. The Gunners securing their sixth straight victory in all competitions has seen them move five points clear at the top of the Premier League with Manchester City and Liverpool in action this evening.

Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz were all on target for the visitors while Gabriel Osho, Elijah Adebayo and Ross Barkley scored for the Hatters. Rice then nodded in a 97th minute winner to secure a dramatic late win for the north Londoners.

This is the second time this season Rice has scored a late goal leading to an Arsenal win with his strike against Manchester United sending the Emirates Stadiums crowd into raptures. Following Havertz’s strike against Brentford and Rice’s winning goal, that is the fifth time Mikel Arteta’s side have scored in stoppage time, showcasing their superb mentality.

And now with fixtures set to come thick and fast over the Christmas period, another three points for Arsenal could prove vital in the title race.

Aston Villa (A) – December 9
Aston Villa followed up their superb away victory at Tottenham by securing a last-minute point against Bournemouth. Unai Emery’s side have struggled away from Villa Park this season but on their own patch they have been a different beast with 13 straights wins. They will present a huge test for the Gunners this weekend.

Brighton (H) – December 17
Roberto De Zerbi’s side have struggled with injuries and thus playing two games in one week but are still expected to present quite the challenge for Arsenal.

Having already taken points off Liverpool and Newcastle, the Seagulls will likely be eying another repeat of last season’s clash at Emirates Stadium when they won 3-0.

Liverpool (A) – December 23
In their final fixture before Christmas, Arsenal must face up to the fixture that severely dented their Premier League title hopes last season. Taking on Liverpool at Anfield is a serious challenge as numerous teams will have discovered over the past few months with Jurgen Klopp’s side on a 20-game unbeaten run.

West Ham (H) – December 28
With fixtures coming thick and fast, Arsenal take on West Ham in a London derby between Christmas and New Year. The Gunners faced this exact fixture around this time last year with a 3-1 win seeing their 2022 form carry on into the New Year and Arteta will certainly be hoping for the same affect this time round.

Fulham (A) – December 31
Arsenal close out a superb 2023 with a Premier League clash against Fulham. The Gunners strode to victory last time out at Craven Cottage with three first-half goals all assisted by Leandro Trossard.

Since that clash, Marco Silva has lost Aleksandar Mitrovic but been able to retain the services of Arsenal target Joao Palhinha. Ahead of the January transfer window opening, the clash may also arrive as the perfect scouting mission for Arteta and Edu.
