Arsenal could be about to help Chelsea dodge major Premier League FFP problems
Arsenal could end up helping Chelsea to steer clear of Financial Fair Play penalties by signing one of their former players this summer.
Arsenal could end up inadvertently helping Chelsea get around the Premier League’s financial regulations by signing one of their former players between now and the start of next season. The Blues have spent considerably more than any other club in world football over the last two transfer windows, with owner Todd Boehly having splashed in excess of £600million on new players since taking over from Roman Abramovich last year.
It has been reported that Chelsea could look to sell a number of their high-profile stars over the summer in order to stay within Financial Fair Play (FFP) limits, with the likes of Mason Mount, Conor Gallagher and Kepa Arrizabalaga having been linked with potential exits in the not-too-distant future. The Blues are scrambling to avoid being punished over failing to meet FFP regulations, according to The Times, which could potentially lead to a series of high-profile departures from Stamford Bridge over the coming months.
However, it seems as though Chelsea could soon receive an unlikely boost courtesy of cross-city rivals Arsenal, who could help the Blues to raise money by signing England defender and Cobham academy graduate Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace this summer.
Arsenal have taken a liking to Guehi over the last couple of seasons and have been weighing up the idea of making a move for his signature when the season draws to a close, according to the Evening Standard. Mikel Arteta is reportedly looking to boost his defensive options when the bidding opens in the summer and would jump at the chance to land Guehi, who has played in all but one of Palace’s matches in the Premier League since the beginning of the campaign.
