Andy Robertson reacts to Liverpool title theory ahead of Manchester United showdown
Liverpool was denied a win at Manchester United last season – but Andy Robertson has dismissed the notion that it was a result that cost them the Premier League title
Andy Robertson isn’t buying the idea that Liverpool lost its shot at the Premier League title last season due to a failure to snag a win at Old Trafford under Jurgen Klopp.
However, the Scottish defender does reckon Sunday’s game against arch-rival Manchester United early into the season is a prime opportunity for new manager Arne Slot to make a statement. The Reds had to endure being ousted from the FA Cup by United in a 4-3 nail-biter during the quarterfinals in March before being held to a 2-2 Premier League draw a month later.
Robertson said: “Getting a point at Old Trafford can never be a negative, in the past or in the future, when it’s one of the oldest rivalries. When you go to these places, of course you want to win. But if you do walk off with a draw you can’t be overly disappointed.
