Alexis Mac Allister, Curtis Jones, Andy Robertson – Liverpool injury and suspension latest

November 7, 2023

Alexis Mac Allister will be available for Liverpool’s Europa League clash in Toulouse on Thursday despite picking up a fifth yellow card of the season against Luton Town.

The Argentine was booked for a cynical challenge on Andros Townsend in the second half of the outing at Kenilworth Road, meaning he will miss Liverpool’s Premier League game against Brentford at Anfield this Sunday.

However, as the one-game ban only applies to Premier League fixtures, Mac Allister will be available for selection on Thursday evening when the Reds return to Europa League action.

Unlike Mac Allister, though, Thiago Alcantara, Stefan Bajcetic and Andy Robertson will all miss Liverpool’s fourth Europa League Group E encounter of the season.

Speaking at a press conference last week, Jurgen Klopp revealed Thiago is unlikely to be available for selection until 2024 after suffering a setback in his recovery from hip surgery earlier this year.

“It’s an ongoing thing, and we cannot put any kind of pressure on,” the Liverpool boss told reporters on Friday. “We expect him to be back – I would say probably the start of the New Year – that’s probably a realistic thing to try.”

Meanwhile, no time frame has been placed on when Bajcetic, who has made just two appearances since March, could return to action as he continues to battle an ongoing calf issue.

Robertson is also not expected to make his return to the field until January after suffering a shoulder dislocation while on international duty with Scotland last month.

The Liverpool left-back underwent corrective surgery on the issue on October 25, with Klopp expected to rely on Kostas Tsimikas and Joe Gomez for roughly three months.

Curtis Jones, meanwhile, is a doubt for the trip to Toulouse after missing the 1-1 draw at Luton with a minor fitness issue.
