AC Milan interested in signing one of the best young CMs in the world
AC Milan are in the hunt for some center midfield help, especially since star man Ismael Bennacer could potentially leave the Rossoneri this summer for a new venture in the Saudi Pro League.
For months, Milan have been closely linked with a move for Monaco star Youssouf Fofana, and even though there is still optimism that Milan will sign the Frenchman, the likes of Manchester United could make things complicated.
Likewise, Milan could be competing with Man United for Juventus free agent Adrien Rabiot, who will likely have to severely reduce his wage demands amidst an unsurprisingly lukewarm market for the inconsistent No. 8.
Now, though, a new and more exciting center midfield transfer target has emerged, and he would fall in line with the list of USMNT standouts Milan have shown interest in.
Last summer, the first under RedBird Capital management, Milan signed two of the United States’ finest footballers in star Christian Pulisic, who was one of the best players in Serie A in his first season with the Rossoneri.
Milan also signed versatile former Valencia man Yunus Musah, who flashed his potential and played a role as a rotational player in his debut season at the San Siro.
According to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan are headed back to the LaLiga market with interest in Real Betis star Johnny Cardoso, who is one of the best young players in the world in his position.
Cardoso is still highly underrated, and at an asking price of just 25 million euros from Real Betis, Cardoso could be a great transfer value signing for Milan. If Man United keep pushing for Fofana, Cardoso could be cheaper.
The 22-year-old averaged nearly four combined tackles and interceptions per game last season and could be Milan’s strongest anchoring point yet, even functioning in a system with two attacking midfielders if Milan do decide to sign Lazar Samardzic to pair with Tijani Reijnders.
