AC Milan Club Chief Issues Blunt Remark on Any Team Eyeing PSG Target
When reports revealed that Kylian Mbappé intends to leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer, several names surfaced that the capital club could pursue to replace the Frenchman’s production.
One of the names linked to the French capital is AC Milan sensation Rafael Leao. However, over the weeks, the Portugal international’s name has cooled off, and one reason is likely the Serie A team’s lack of desire to negotiate a departure.
An AC Milan club chief stated that if any team wants the 24-year-old, there’s a €175 million release clause. The sum is hefty for any club to pay, so the Italian team’s stance hints that they don’t want to negotiate.
“Rafa has a release clause of €175 million,” Milan CEO Giorgio Furlani told Gazzetta dello Sport. “But aside of that, he wants to stay in Milan. He’s very comfortable here, he should be the one asking us to leave but he doesn’t want to. Long live Leao at Milan.”
Since his arrival at AC Milan from Lille in 2019, Rafael Leao has established himself as a key player for the team. His performance has not gone unnoticed, with several top European clubs eyeing his release clause.
Despite having four years left on his contract, Furlani strongly considers Leao the cornerstone. Milan aims to find a center-forward to succeed MLS-bound veteran Olivier Giroud.
