Abbi Summers storms out of studio after ‘disgraceful’ dramatic decision in Arsenal game
The Gunners thought they had conceded a last-gasp goal as Callum Wilson slammed home during the dying moments on Sunday.
However, after a long VAR check which ended with referee Chris Kavanagh watching on the pitchside monitor, it was disallowed for a foul on David Raya.
And that meant Mikel Arteta’s side remained 1-0 up thanks to Leandro Trossard’s strike, as Arsenal went on to regain their five-point lead at the top of the Premier League table with just two games to play.
The VAR decision was labelled ‘the biggest in history’ while ex-Arsenal winger Perry Groves admitted his old side ‘got away with it’.
But it was an arm from West Ham’s Pablo that stretched across Raya and forced him to make an error that led to the goal being ruled out.
It has caused a huge debate – however, it’s very clear what Tottenham fan Summers thought of the decision as it happened.
As the check was ongoing, a furious Summers shouted during talkSPORT’s Goals Show: “It’s a goal and if anything it’s a penalty on [Konstantinos] Mavropanos! Do me a favour! You can’t rule this out!”
Each person in the room then waited tensely for the decision to be made by Kavanagh as he returned from the monitor.
And when the goal was disallowed, Summers decided she had had enough and walked out of the talkSPORT studio.
