Federico Valverde doesn’t have limits

October 28, 2022

Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos has confessed he ‘doesn’t see a limit’ on Federico Valverde’s potential if the 24-year-old continues to play as he has done this season.

Now a regular starter for the first time since he moved to Spain as a teenager in 2016, Valverde is having a breakout season with Real.

The Uruguayan has primarily started as a winger and already has nine goal involvements in 16 appearances in all competitions to his name – fortunately for Real manager Carlo Ancelotti, who has publicly threatened to retire from management if the midfielder doesn’t score ten this season.

“If he continues like this, I don’t see limits,” Kroos explained on his Einfach mal Luppen podcast.

“He is very, very complete. If he doesn’t see a solution with the ball at some point, then he takes the ball and goes straight to the rival goal! I’m a big fan of Valverde.”

Kroos also recalled the first time he was aware of Valverde, which came after the player had returned to Real from a loan at Deportivo La Coruna in the summer of 2018.

“I remember it was during the tour before the 2018/19 season in the United States. Our physio warned me to keep an eye on him because he knew I was his idol,” Kroos revealed.

“I immediately realised that he was a great guy. Very quiet and humble. That was what I liked the most about him. He didn’t act differently because he travelled with us. He gave everything in each training session without fear of anything. I was watching him on the field and out too.”
