Luis Diaz ruled out until December with knee injury

October 11, 2022

Liverpool have been handed a fresh blow with the news that Luis Diaz will be out until December with a knee injury.

The Colombian left the Emirates on crutches following the Reds’ 3-2 defeat to Arsenal last week, with Jurgen Klopp immediately speculating that the injury could a serious one.

Fortunately, it appears to be less serious than first feared and he will not need surgery, although his World Cup participation with Colombia is also now in serious doubt.

Diaz will miss Liverpool’s next ten matches before the World Cup break, starting with their Champions League clash with Rangers this week.

They will be hopeful, though, that he will be fit again when the Premier League season resumes on Boxing Day when the Reds travel to face Aston Villa.

“Lucho we had to change before [half-time]. [It’s] something with the knee, not good,” Klopp said after the defeat at Arsenal.

“He will have a scan and then we will know more. I have no idea about the extent and then on top of that Trent [Alexander-Arnold] is bad as well with the ankle.

“[He] twisted the ankle, not good. Trent never, in seven years, went off if he could have played on. He was in too much pain, it started swelling immediately, so we will have to see.”
