Juventus willing to sell USMNT midfielder this summer
Juventus would be willing to sell Weston McKennie this summer should an offer of €30m ($30.5m) or above come in, 90min understands.
The American midfielder has been in Turin since joining from FC Schalke in August 2020, initially on loan before making his transfer permanent. McKennie had become an important player for the Old Lady, notching 10 goals and three assists in 75 appearances across all competitions.
But on Thursday, Goal Italia’s Romeo Agresti reported that Juve would sell McKennie this summer should a suitable offer be tabled this summer. 90min sources have confirmed the Italian club’s stance, with their price tag set at €30m for the 23-year-old.
Tottenham Hotspur had been considering a bid for McKennie earlier in this window but that interest now appears to have cooled following their signing of Yves Bissouma from Brighton.
Just last week, Juve boss Massimiliano Allegri named McKennie the ‘best American player in Europe’, adding: “I think it’s very important for him to continue showing the high levels that he has at Juve.”
But it is understood Juventus remain keen on signing Chelsea‘s Jorginho this summer, with a possible sale of McKennie both raising cash and clearing a spot in Allegri’s midfield.
McKennie is capped 35 times at senior level for the United States, scoring nine goals and providing four assists, and will be one of Gregg Berhalter’s key players at the World Cup in Qatar later this year.
