Bournemouth agree deal for Middlesbrough’s Marcus Tavernier
Bournemouth have agreed a £15m deal to sign Middlesbrough midfielder Marcus Tavernier, 90min understands.
Tavernier has emerged as the Cherries top target this summer, and the 23-year-old is now set to link up with Scott Parker’s side.
Both Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest had previous bids turned down, as 90min revealed earlier this month. However, Boro’ were convinced the part ways with their star man after the Cherries submitted an improved offer.
90min can confirm that Bournemouth have agreed to pay £12m plus £3m in add-ons for the former England Under-20 midfielder and Tavernier is now travelling down to the South Coast ahead of a medical on Thursday.
He is set to become the club’s third signing of the summer, following on from the arrivals of Ryan Fredericks and Joe Rothwell on free transfers.
Boro, meanwhile, are hoping to announce the signing of Brentford’s Marcus Forss before their Championship opener against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.
