Hoffenheim’s Djiuku deal threatens to collapse
Germany’s preeminent footballing publication claims that TSG 1899 Hoffenheim’s deal for Racing Strasbourg defender Alexander Djiku may actually fall through.
A transfer fee had been agreed upon. A medical had even been passed. Journalists at German footballing magazine Kicker nevertheless report that a deal to bring Ghanian footballer-of-the-year Alexander Djiku to Sinsheim might collapse after all.Kicker cites its own sources and a parallel report appearing in “L’Equipe”
Kicker claims that the issue lies with the player himself. Represented in part by his brother, Djiku is reportedly dissatisfied with the amount of performance bonuses in his Hoffenheim contract. After an extensive round of negotiations, none of the parties involved are in much of a mood for additional demands.
A transfer once thought to be in the stretch run this wobbles precariously. Djiku does not appear likely to sign working papers with the Kraichgauer if his desired incentives are not built into the contract.
