Deniz Undav reacts to Germany national team snub

Following Stuttgart’s 1-0 loss to Borussia Dortmund, Germany striker Deniz Undav stated that he is disappointed to not have been part of Jürgen Klopp’s team for the upcoming UEFA Nations League games.

In an interview with Sky Germany, Undav stated: “ I thought that maybe by now I’ve built up some buffer through the World Cup and the games in the national team kit.”

The 30-year-old striker was part of the national team at the 2026 FIFA World Cup but admitted that he may have to prove himself again in order to be included in future squads. “ I have to prove myself again, give everything again, and show another coach once more that I belong,” he said.

Undav scored three goals and provided two assists at the World Cup for the national team but is yet to find the back of the net for his club this season.

Klopp has called up an expanded squad of 44 players but chose not to include the fan favorite striker, mostly opting for young and new players. The exclusion of Undav has stirred a strong reaction from German fans online who thought he more than deserved his spot in the team.
