Matthias Jaissle provides Newcastle United striker update after injury v Liverpool
Newcastle United injury news: Matthias Jaissle was asked about Dan Burn and Will Osula after the draw with Liverpool.
Newcastle United captain Dan Burn is set to be sidelined until after the upcoming international break, while the early signs for Will Osula are thought to be positive.
Burn sat out of the Magpies’ Premier League opening-day draw at home to Liverpool on Sunday after rolling his ankle in training earlier in the week.
The 34-year-old was spotted at St James’ Park on crutches and wearing a protective boot, but head coach Matthias Jaissle has played down fears of a long-term injury.
Dan Burn expected to miss another five matches
“If Dan is clear, he will be out for a couple of weeks,” Jaissle told reporters after the 2-2 draw. “How long exactly, that will be decided, but for sure our medical department is excellent, so he will be back on the grass as fast as possible.”
Burn is likely to be absent until after the September and October international break. Before then, United host West Bromwich Albion in the Carabao Cup second round and have Premier League matches against Tottenham Hotspur, AFC Bournemouth, Leeds United and Hull City.
