Newcastle United January strategy revealed as Eddie Howe refuses to hit panic button
The Magpies have watched on as Premier League rivals make purchases at will while Newcastle still have PSR issues
Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe admits he is trying to keep his head while others lose theirs this January.
The Magpies go into Sunday’s game against Aston Villa without any major signings this winter, with injuries a big concern for Howe at the moment. Dan Burn, Jacob Murphy, and Bruno Guimarães are doubts this weekend, while Fabian Schar, Emil Krafth, and Jamaal Lascelles are long-term worries.
It might not be so bad for Howe if a couple of new faces came into his squad, but despite banking £125m for Alexander Isak last summer, PSR rules are stopping him from bringing in more than one player, and he has already admitted that defensive injuries mean he is only likely to bring in back-up centre-back.
