Manchester United ready to to hijack £35m Nottingham Forest transfer
Manchester United have set their sights on Nottingham Forest target Dan Ndoye
Last season was something every Manchester United fan would want to forget as soon as possible. Finishing 15th in the league was a total departure from our reputation. Losing the Europa League final and then being eliminated from European football altogether was one injury after another. When Amorim took over, there was hope that things would improve, but things haven’t changed. Now that the new season is around the corner, the club is once again active in the transfer market. However, the question remains—is it just a habit of buying names, or is there a plan?
The club have started this summer market on a high note. By bringing in Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, Amorim has made it clear that they need new life in attack. Along with the signing of young Diogo Leon, who looks like a preparation for the future. However, even with these signings, something is missing. The lack of attacking edge that was seen last season doesn’t seem to be filled with just two signings, and in the meantime, another name has come to the fore.
United are now trying to hijack Bologna star Dan Ndoye’s move to Nottingham Forest. According to the report, Forest have already finalised personal terms with the player and have also made an offer to the club. However, United are now preparing a bid of around £35 million. Ndoye, who plays for Switzerland, is a versatile winger who can create an attacking threat from the right side.bThe 24-year-old’s playing style displays speed, cutting edge and physical strength. In Amorim’s system, he can fit in as a right winger or number 10. He is also only 24 years old, due to which he also fits in the long-term planning.
Is this transfer a step in the right direction?
As United fans, we have our doubts about this transfer. We have already spent money on Cunha and Mbeumo, and revenue is going to drop due to being out of Europe. The club is currently trying to cut costs, and there are rumours of funds coming in through sell-on clauses. So a £35m bid doesn’t seem logical unless we sell players like Antony or Jadon Sancho.
Ndoye could be a sensible option, if it’s to be believed. Our wing attack was almost ineffective last season, and with Rashford loaned off to Barcelona, and Alejandro Garnacho’s sale being a possibility, there might be a need for depth. We need strength in wide attack. He could fit into Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 formation and add dynamism to the game. But if we look at Rasmus Hojlund’s flop form and Andre Onana’s blunders last season, it’s clear that the striker and goalkeeper positions should be the priority.
The biggest question is, do we have enough money without selling Garnacho? we don’t think so. The transfer reports seem as murky as they possibly can be. Ndoye could be a good addition, but only if the right players leave and real needs are addressed first. Otherwise, this could become yet another pointless expenditure.
