‘Being the best in the world depends on him’ – Deco talks Barcelona ‘phenomenon’ Lamine Yamal

Barcelona star Lamine Yamal is still only 17 years of age but is already widely regarded as one of the best players on the planet.

Yamal is expected to go on and dominate world football over the coming years and has already been tipped as a future Ballon d’Or winner.

Barcelona sporting director Deco is in full agreement and says Yamal is at the best club to make all those dreams come true.

“Lamine is a phenomenon, a phenomenon. Being the best in the world depends on him. He’ll be competing with Real Madrid for championships at FC Barcelona for the next few years, and he’s in the best place to fight, on the best stage,” he said, via Mundo Deportivo.

“I also say this for the Spanish national team, which will shine in tournaments because it’s very strong. Lamine’s start is very similar to Neymar’s beginnings. Life has helped him mature the way he is.”

Yamal has been able to able to enjoy a long break this summer but is set for a busy week when he returns to Barca. He turns 18 on the 13th July and is set to be handed the No. 10 shirt at Barcelona when the club make his new contract official.
