Potter eyes West Ham raid for Disasi and two other Chelsea players

May 23, 2025

Graham Potter has significant work to do if he is to turn around his fortunes at West Ham United.

The former Chelsea manager took over from Julen Lopetegui in January, but things have not improved in East London.

However, he is set to guide the Hammers through a crucial transfer market and must get his decisions spot on.

One player the 50-year-old is interested in is Axel Disasi, while he also fancies two of his teammates.

Potter targets Chelsea trio
If Potter wants to improve on his poor start to life at the London Stadium, then he must address his defensive fragilities.

The Irons are currently ranked as the joint fifth-worst defence in the Premier League, having conceded 61 goals.

Only Southampton, Leicester City, Ipswich Town and Wolves have conceded more goals than the London club.

Vladimir Coufal and Aaron Creswell will leave the club this summer, so defensive reinforcements are on the agenda.

However, it is in the hub of the Hammers’ defence where Potter is also looking to bolster, and he is keen on Disasi, according to a report by TBR Football (22 May).

It is stated that West Ham’s manager is keeping tabs on the 27-year-old if his loan move at Aston Villa is not made permanent.

As well as Disasi, Potter holds an interest in his colleagues Trevoh Chalobah and Tosin Adarabioyo, should they become available.

Of course, the 50-year-old managed Chelsea between 2022 and 2023 and could look to utilise that relationship.

Disasi would be a West Ham disaster
For a club that want to improve their defence, signing Disasi would be effectively shooting themselves in the foot.

His time at Chelsea was memorable for mistakes, hence why he was allowed to leave on loan in the winter window.

At Villa, the defender has made 13 Premier League appearances, starting nine of those, but has failed to impress.

Evidently, he is not cut out for the European elite, which is why West Ham are considering a move.

However, given the Irons’ awful defensive record, why would they sign a player who has been poor in England?

A Disasi and Potter reunion is not going to inspire in East London and could speed up the manager’s departure.
