Hansi Flick gives green light to Barcelona’s pursuit of La Liga superstar; talks to resume soon

April 8, 2025

With just a few months remaining before the end of the season, Nico Williams still remains a hot topic at Barcelona, even after his botched move to Catalonia last summer.

As a matter of fact, Barça appear to have stepped up their pursuit of the Spanish international, who is a popular figure within the Barcelona dressing room.

Hansi Flick gives his stamp of approval

Barcelona are expected to make a move for Nico Williams once again in the coming summer.

To that end, the club appear to have gotten the approval of Hansi Flick, who is on board with the idea of signing the Athletic Club forward.

Barcelona are ideally looking for a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski. But seeing Ferran Torres’ current form, the club want someone who can operate on the left flank.

Nico fits the bill perfectly due to his explosive pace and productivity in the final third. Not to mention, the forward has an excellent understanding with Lamine Yamal.

This could come in handy for Barcelona as they look to prepare the skeleton for the attacking core.

Talks to resume soon
The report goes on to add that Barça plan to resume talks soon with the Athletic Club forward, in an attempt to lure him to Catalonia next summer.

It must be noted that the feelings between the two sides are not exactly optimum given what happened last summer.

But it appears Barça are ready to bury the hatchet and once again make an effort to sign the Spanish international, although it will be interesting to see how the Catalans navigate through the Financial Fair Play regulation and an increasing competition, with Arsenal also interested in his services.
