Chelsea’s Massive Offer Nearly Swayed PSG Superstar After lnter Milan Departure In 2021

March 28, 2025

Achraf Hakimi has established himself as a leader at Paris Saint-Germain this season, sometimes even wearing the captain’s armband. Nonetheless, if it were up to his entourage, this entire scenario might not have happened.

Hakimi arrived in the French capital in 2021 to help solve their right-back problem, and he’s done more than just being one of the top players in his position. Moreover, the Moroccan has an affection for Paris that resulted in him signing an extension until 2029.

When he could’ve left for Real Madrid or elsewhere, Hakimi chose to stay with the Parisians. After coming through the Spanish giant’s youth academy and having spells at Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan, the 26-year-old has found a home in Paris.

Achraf Hakimi’s inner circle didn’t want him in Paris

Hakimi took his time before agreeing to join PSG. When he left Inter in 2021, PSG wasn’t the only club interested. Chelsea also made a massive offer to him.

The offer caught the attention of Hakimi’s team, who pushed for him to move to England. However, after thinking it over, Hakimi decided to go with PSG—a choice he doesn’t seem to regret.

“I’m very happy to be continuing my stay with Paris Saint-Germain,” Hakimi said last month after his contract extension was made official. “I’d like to thank the club’s president, sporting director and coach, who have all made this possible.

“This club and its fans really do have something special; here, I have an ideal environment in which to work and to blossom on the pitch. It’s an honour to represent this great club, and I can’t wait to keep contributing to its history.”
