Bayern Munich legend says team will enjoy underdog role vs. Inter Milan in Champions League

March 28, 2025

Bayern Munich legend Karl-Heinz Rummenigge might have a unique perspective on things ahead his club’s Champions League showdown with Inter Milan.

Rummenigge, whose playing history includes stints with both clubs, is anticipating a great set of games in the Champions League quarterfinals.

“It’s going to be two tough games. Both teams are at a high level. Inter didn’t reach a Champions League final a couple of years ago by chance. We’ll have to have two great days, here in Munich and in Milan, in order to reach the semifinal. Nobody needs to think we’re favourites, we’re not. Inter have a great defense and have Lautaro (Martinez) and (Marcus) Thuram upfront — but our style is a bit more dominant. We need to get a good result in the first leg in Munich,” Rummenigge told DAZN.

Both teams have experienced injuries leading into the match, but both have more than enough talent to make this a thoroughly entertaining match-up.
