Report: Joshua Kimmich and Alphonso Davies keen on extending Bayern Munich contracts

December 5, 2024

Finally, some good news!

Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich and Alphonso Davies have consistently made headlines this season, both for their interesting contract situations and brilliant performances. Davies in particular has found himself to be a key cog in head coach Vincent Kompany’s system, fulfilling the role with aplomb. And Kimmich, well, he is ever the Bayern metronome.

Fans have thus been hoping for both players to renew their contracts, and it seems that a double renewal might be on the cards. With one tiny fiscal catch: they might just have both played themselves into higher contract leverage.

A report in Bild, as captured by @iMiaSanMia, details the positive signs from both players:

Both Joshua Kimmich and Alphonso Davies would like to stay in Munich. The club is aware of that. Now it’s just about money. Regarding Kimmich, Bayern would’ve liked to reduce his salary (€20m/gross), but now that’s no longer possible. Regarding Davies, Bayern are still unwilling to meet his agent’s demands (€16m/year salary and €15m signing on fee) [@altobelli13, @cfbayern]
