Barcelona plan to secure a game-changing winger next summer, five targets identified

November 12, 2024

Barcelona are keeping a close watch on five potential winger targets for the upcoming summer transfer window, as reported by Luis Miguelsanz in SPORT. These players include Nico Williams, Rafael Leao, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Mohamed Salah, and Leroy Sane.

Last summer, Barcelona aimed to sign a top-quality left-wing player, but financial restrictions, especially with the club’s salary cap, made it impossible to land a major signing.

However, the club’s sporting department is now determined to try again next year, with the recent agreement with Nike potentially offering more financial flexibility.

Barcelona are aware that securing one of these high-profile players may require offloading someone from their squad, but this summer could present a great opportunity to sign one of their desired targets.

And why is that?
The market for top wingers is heating up, with several players either up for sale or pushing for moves from their current clubs. Among the players Barcelona are considering are Leao, Nico, Salah, Kvaratskhelia, and Sane.

Each of these players comes with their own strengths and challenges, but Barcelona are closely monitoring the situation of each player.

Nico is still very much on Barcelona’s radar. However, any potential move for him would depend on whether he renews his contract at Athletic Club, as his release clause is currently set at just over €60 million.

Another player long admired by the club is Milan’s Leao. The board has been keen on signing Leao for some time, and considering the player’s interest in joining the team, this transfer will only take a hit with Milan’s asking price.

Kvaratskhelia, the Georgian winger from Napoli, is another player being closely watched. He is reportedly unwilling to renew his contract, which could lead Napoli to consider selling him.

Lastly, two notable free agents, Mohamed Salah and Sane, are also on Barcelona’s radar. While both players are talented and fit the club’s search for high-impact signings, their high salary demands could pose a challenge, especially considering their potential free transfer status.

Barcelona have not yet made a final decision, but they are ready to make an effort if any of these players become available under the right conditions.
