Max Eberl confirms Bayern Munich in “good talks” with Jamal Musiala over his contract

November 4, 2024

Bayern is doing everything they can to try to tie Musiala down to a new deal with the club.

Bayern Munich is currently in the midst of handling contract situations for a handful of key players in the squad in the background of their matches across all three fronts under new manager Vincent Kompany. They are in a rough spot in the Champions League standings as this juncture, but there is plenty of time left to turn their fortunes around in that competition and they are top of the Bundesliga table and through to the next round of the DFB-Pokal.

Contractually, all of Jamal Musiala, Alphonso Davies, Joshua Kimmich, Leroy Sané, Serge Gnabry and Thomas Müller all have contracts expiring within the next two years for Bayern. With the interest from other clubs across Europe that Musiala has been generating with his performances for both Bayern and Germany, there is added impetus for Bayern to get his contract as soon as possible, and all signs seem to be pointing in the right direction with regards to getting him to agree to a new deal with the Rekordmeister.

Musiala’s contract runs through June 2026, but Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl recently explained that there have been positive discussions already between the club and the player in terms of getting a contract extension sorted. “We are doing our job. We are holding talks in the background. We will announce something when there’s something to announce. Of course, both parties have their desire,” he explained in the press conference ahead of the Bundesliga clash against Union Berlin

He also explained that there is active squad planning for future seasons and there have already been good signals from other players with upcoming expiring contracts. “There’s a squad plan for the next few years. We are considering it, whether it’s with Joshua, Jamal, Leroy, Manuel or Alphonso. We’re in good talks,” he said.

Getting Musiala tied down to a new deal would be massive for Bayern and could certainly lay down a marker of intent with what their ambitions are moving forward. He is arguably the best player in the squad and Bayern keeping ahold of him only raises their profile in the transfer market and can help attract more top talents in future transfer windows.
