Dani Olmo explains Hansi Flick’s Barcelona system

August 30, 2024

Barcelona have made the perfect start to the new La Liga season under their new manager Hansi Flick.

With three wins in three games, Barça are sitting comfortably at the top of the La Liga standings being the only team with a 100% record.

It has not been an easy start for Flick & co., considering that they had to deal with injuries to several key players as well the absence of marquee new signing Dani Olmo for the first two matches due to registration issues.

But Flick has found ways to get his team on the right track, playing a style of football that is somewhat different from the usual Barcelona way.

Olmo sheds light on Flick’s system
Now, speaking in an interview with Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona new signing Dani Olmo shed light on the tactical approach that Flick takes and what he asks of his players on the pitch.

“Hansi Flick wants us to press for 90 minutes, to dominate for 90 mintues. We have to be in very good physical shape to do that, but the team is doing it perfectly,” shared Olmo.

“Our pre-season was very good. Both those who were in America and those who joined later. The team is in full physical condition to do what the manager asks of us,” he added.

Giving an insight into what type of character the new Barcelona manager is, the Spanish international further added:

“Hansi Flick is a very clear, approachable coach, who will be there to help you or explain anything you need. He is also very ambitious, very ambitious, and he has winning in his sights and that is the only thing he wants, both him and his staff.”

After two weeks of wait, Olmo finally made his debut for Barcelona this past Tuesday, coming on as a second-half substitute against Rayo Vallecano and scoring the match-winning goal.

The Spaniard will be hoping to start for his boyhood club for the first time when they take on Real Valladolid later this week.
