Jamie Carragher predicts where Manchester United will finish in the Premier League

August 13, 2024

Jamie Carragher has revealed his prediction for where Manchester United will finish in the Premier League next season.

The Red Devils endured a largely underwhelming 2023-24 campaign as they secured a lowly eighth-place finish in the league.

This was United’s worst league finish in the Premier League era.

But Erik ten Hag managed to keep his job at Old Trafford by leading his team to FA Cup success, beating Manchester City in the final at Wembley in May.

The Red Devils have had a good summer transfer window, bringing in Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee. They are also on the verge of completing moves for Bayern Munich duo Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.

But Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher doesn’t think United are good enough to secure Champions League football as he backs Tottenham Hotspur to finish fourth ahead of them.

The famous pundit believes Manchester City to be crowned champions again, with Arsenal and Liverpool ending up in second and third respectively.

Manchester United recently suffered a penalty shootout defeat to City in the Community Shield, but they competed on an equal footing with Pep Guardiola’s side.

It was a close match and the result could have gone either way. Unfortunately, Jonny Evans missed his spot-kick and the Citizens emerged victorious by 7-6

Based on that performance, United could make a good comeback in the upcoming season and break back into the Champions League places contrary to what Carragher says.
