Juventus to make improved €50 million offer for Koopmeiners

August 3, 2024

Juventus is preparing to make a decisive move in their pursuit of Atalanta midfielder Teun Koopmeiners. The club remains committed to their initial plan, with Sporting Director Cristiano Giuntoli and manager Thiago Motta both keen on securing the Dutch international’s services.

Following Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi’s recent comments, Calciomercato report that Juventus have intensified their efforts to accelerate the transfer process. The Bianconeri had previously submitted an initial offer of €45 million, which was promptly rejected by Atalanta. Now, they are readying an improved bid that could prove crucial in bridging the gap to Atalanta’s €60 million valuation.

Juventus is exploring various options to meet Atalanta’s demands, including potential player exchanges or a restructured deal with performance-based bonuses. The club is reportedly preparing an offer closer to €50 million, which they hope will satisfy all parties involved.

Koopmeiners himself is quietly pushing for the move to Turin, though he has not forced the issue out of respect for Atalanta. The midfielder had previously agreed to stay with Atalanta for another season when Napoli expressed interest last summer, with the understanding that he could leave this year if a suitable offer arrived.

While the negotiations are not expected to conclude immediately, Juventus is determined to secure Koopmeiners’ signature. With some of their most lucrative player sales now completed, the club is in a position to launch a decisive assault on the transfer, potentially aiming to have the player available for their Serie A opener.

Thiago Motta recognizes the importance of filling the void between midfield and attack in his tactical setup, viewing Koopmeiners as a key piece in realizing his vision for Juventus. As the transfer saga unfolds, the next steps taken by Juventus could prove pivotal in determining the outcome of this high-profile pursuit.
