Tottenham attacker close to transfer to Champions League side

July 25, 2024

Tottenham could yet add another attacking talent this summer after securing another loan for RB Leipzig star Timo Werner, but they will have to try and offload a couple of players first.

Richarlison is the highest-profile Tottenham forward with one foot out the door, as Spurs are trying to extract every cent possible from a transfer of the Brazilian standout after an important bounce-back season in 2023/24 under Ange Postecoglou.

Meanwhile, the most likely man to leave Spurs this summer is winger Bryan Gil, who never settled in at the London giants despite shining so much in LaLiga that he was viewed as one of the gems of Spanish football.

Gil is a step away from returning to LaLiga with a transfer to title contenders Girona, who qualified for the Champions League next season for the first time in their history.

A Gil transfer to Girona is said to be imminent and could become official in the coming days, with the compensation for Tottenham being entirely unclear at this juncture.

Perhaps Gil could have made it at Tottenham, but the diminutive, Beatles-haircut-wearing winger never really fit the Premier League’s style as much as he fit in as a playmaking technician in LaLiga.

The former Eibar standout’s departure could help clear the way for Tottenham to land another hybrid attacking midfielder and winger to compete for starts with the likes of James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski.
