Bayern Munich content with letting Alphonso Davies run down his contract
Bayern Munich has still not made up their mind on Alphonso Davies, but they are prepared to run down his contract if the report by Sky Sports’ Florian Plettenberg (as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia) to be believed:
Bayern’s current plan remains to go with Alphonso Davies into the final year of his contract. The only way that could change is if a big offer comes in this summer, which is not the case at the moment. Should he perform next season under Vincent Kompany, it’s not ruled out that all parties would sit together again and discuss a new deal.
Davies extending his contract was almost certain in 2023, but Bayern fired their former sporting director before the deal got done which threw a spanner in the works because since then he has been reluctant to sign it. With Real Madrid waiting in the shadows (and content with waiting for Davies to leave on a free), it’s a less than ideal situation for the Bavarians.
