Barcelona snatch up ‘magical’ former Real Madrid youth player

July 8, 2024

Despite the main priority for FC Barcelona currently being the first team, the club does not forget other obligations. Some of these other obligations require that the club keep in mind the reinforcements needed for the quarry. Fortunately, Barcelona has always known to give importance to all their categories as per their requirements.

Even in times of financial despair, the club continues to work towards building a sustainable project. For Barcelona, a key part of that sustainability is the development of youth talent that can one day mature to a point that allows them to repay that quality within the first team or even in Barcelona Atletic.

As highlighted by SPORT, FC Barcelona have managed to secure the signing of 14-year-old Byron Mendoza. A talented left-footed winger, he impressed in his most recent season within the youth ranks of Leganes, and Barcelona knew for quite some time that he was a player they wanted to bring in.

Coincidentally, the youngster who will turn 15 in September of this year is a former product of La Fabrica. Having trained in the youth system of Real Madrid, he was ultimately discarded by his own coaches there. However, SPORT has now revealed that Los Blancos seem to have understood their mistake and were now trying to recover their lost talent. Unfortunately for them, he has now been landed by their biggest rivals.

Roger Rodríguez, the coach of Cadet A at Fornells, was someone who recently saw the player in action and told SPORT just how impressed he was with the youngster:

“It’s been a while since I’ve seen a player like this; he’s on another level. He has a magical left foot, but he’s also very fast and not only creates havoc on the outside but also on the inside. It’s a marvel; he also has a powerful long-range shot and isn’t selfish at all; he knows how to associate very well.”

The left-winger is now expected to join Arnau Blanco’s Cadet A side and will be looking to work his way up from there. An exceptional talent with a great skillset and an understanding of the game to match, it will be quite exciting to see what he brings to Barcelona.
