Real Madrid’s new transfer priority after Kylian Mbappe is becoming increasingly clear

May 19, 2024

After Kylian Mbappe bid farewell to PSG in video format, Real Madrid fans can feel even more secure that the French superstar is on his way to the Santiago Bernabeu this summer.

Mbappe will join Endrick as two new faces in a Real Madrid side that won LaLiga handily and is through to the Champions League Final with a quintet of attacking stars in Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo Goes, Jude Bellingham, Arda Guler, and Brahim Diaz.

Now, Real Madrid need to focus on beefing up a defense that is already a strong with a resurgent Dani Carvajal, a returning Eder Militao, and an ever-improving Antonio Rudiger.

Real Madrid would like to sign a young center back to pair with Eder Militao for the next decade, and with Antonio Silva fading as an alternative option, the Merengues are becoming increasingly all-in on Lille phenom Leny Yoro.

For months, Yoro has been closely linked with a move to Real Madrid, as the teenage center back has been one of the best players at any position in Ligue 1 and is one of the best center back prospects football fans have seen in years.

Yoro could be a game-changing signing for Juni Calafat and Real Madrid. So much so that it appears Real Madrid are pushing after the French defender more than established world-class Bayern Munich left back Alphonso Davies.

Recent reports indicate Davies is more inclined to stay with Bayern Munich, as Real Madrid are surprisingly likely to stick with the platoon of Fran Garcia and Ferland Mendy at left back.

It looks like Real Madrid are fine with their left back situation or have doubts about Davies and his fee. Maybe they weren’t as interested as Davies’ agent wanted everyone to believe – that’s always a possibility for fans to keep in the back of their minds.

Yoro is a younger and better player at a more premium position. He could be cheaper, too, because he will have lower wages over a four-year contract duration. Yoro is the guy and the kind of rare, generational talent Real Madrid prefer to sign.
