Real Madrid remains midfield superstar’s priority despite summer exit rumours
Luka Modric is one of several Real Madrid players whose contract expires at the end of the ongoing season.
Nacho Fernandez is one such star and is all set to leave the club at the end of the season while Toni Kroos, on the other hand, is expected to sign a new deal.
Luka Modric still prioritising Real Madrid
For a long while, it has been expected that Modric will also leave the club once the campaign is over, given that he has lost his prominence in the starting XI this term.
However, recent performances show that the Croatian can still be an important player for Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
And, as such, AS reports that Modric continues to see Real Madrid as his priority despite all the chatter around his future.
The 38-year-old showed he could still make valuable contributions when Ancelotti turned to him during the Champions League tie against Manchester City in the last couple of weeks.
Modric made an impression after coming on both at the Santiago Bernabeu and the Etihad Stadium.
The Croatian international displayed that he still has what it takes to stay at Real Madrid even if it is as a possible rotation option and to provide alternatives from the bench in big matches.
There is also the fact that Modric could break the record of becoming the oldest player to represent Real Madrid if he stayed for another season.
And with Nacho set to depart, the midfield superstar would also be in line to become the club captain next season if he opts to continue.
Only time will tell which way Modric will lean, but if the report from AS is to be believed, Real Madrid remains his priority.
