Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour forces Real Madrid to ask to play their final game of the season a day earlier so popstar can have more time to set up at their iconic Bernabeu stadium
Spanish soccer giants Real Madrid have filed a request to move their final game of the season so Taylor Swift can have more time setting up for her Eras Tour at their iconic Bernabeu stadium.
Madrid are set to play Real Betis at home on Sunday, May 24 and the popstar is due to perform at the Bernabeu on Thursday, May 30 as part of the European leg of her shows.
But, according to The Athletic, Real have requested the game be moved forward a day to Saturday, May 23 to give them more time to prepare for the concert.
Madrid are also attempting to add another date for Swift to perform due to the overwhelming interest in tickets from the Spanish-based Swifties.
The pop sensation, who is dating NFL star Travis Kelce, will perform in several European cities this summer, including Paris, Stockholm, Lisbon, Liverpool, London and Amsterdam.
Moving the game should not affect the LaLiga title race too much, given Real are already six points clear of second-placed Girona and eight ahead of Barcelona.
Real Betis on the other hand are currently in seventh place in the league and sit one point behind Real Sociedad for the final European spot in LaLiga.
Moving their game could potentially also force Sociedad’s game to be moved forward in the name of fairness as the sides battle to qualify for Europe.
Swift’s tour has also raised concerns for Lyon, due to the risk of her concert clashing with the Ligue 1 relegation play-off.
Lyon currently sit only three points above the Ligue 1 relegation play-off place.
