What Javier Tebas Said About Real Madrid’s Chance to Land Kylian Mbappé
La Liga is rooting for Real Madrid to land Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappé. The league needs a successor after Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi’s recent departures.
Mbappé will become a free agent in June when his current contract with the Parisians expires. La Liga president Javier Tebas recently spoke with transfer window specialist Fabrizio Romano. He believes the Frenchman will soon be playing in Spain.
“I said it was around 50 percent some weeks ago; now is even more,” Tebas said. “Every day that passes and Mbappé does not sign the new contract with PSG, the percentage increases.”
A problem with Tebas’ assertion arises from the fact that the 25-year-old previously chose to decline an offer from Real Madrid in favor of extending his contract with PSG, a decision made in May 2022. Therefore, the lack of an announcement regarding his decision in February does not necessarily imply that he is ready to join Real Madrid.
It’s not to say that Mbappé won’t go to the Spanish giants, but to base an opinion on the fact that because he hasn’t signed an extension with PSG, it automatically means he’s leaving isn’t ideal.
