Arsenal battle Liverpool for Kylian Mbappe transfer as huge loan decision made

January 2, 2024

The January transfer window is now open and teams can finally look to add to their squad for the next month or so, leading to plenty of transfer links. Arsenal could look to bolster their options to help fuel their Premier League title push for the second half of the campaign.

Mikel Arteta has attempted to play down recent links, claiming solutions have to be found with his current set of players, but that doesn’t stop the links. A striker is on the cards, with the likes of Ivan Toney and Victor Osimhen rumoured with a move, while there may be an exit or two around the corner.

With that said, football.london takes a look at the latest Arsenal transfer rumours and how it could impact the window ahead for the club.

Reiss Nelson
Arsenal are open to letting winger Reiss Nelson leave on loan in the January transfer window, according to a report from Football Insider. A number of clubs have been rumoured with a deal for the Hale End academy graduate, with some coming from the Premier League and elsewhere.

What Nelson has said about an exit: “I have signed a new contract with Arsenal, this is where my heart is at the moment.”

One player that has been linked with a move to Arsenal is Kylian Mbappe, however there could be a twist in the tale coming around the corner. That’s because, according to Le Parisien, Liverpool and Real Madrid are the current “serious candidates” to land the French forward.

Takehiro Tomiyasu
Arsenal star Takehiro Tomiyasu is nearing the end of his contract with the club and as a result, teams continue to circle a potential move. A report from Calciomercato claims that the Japanese international is of interest to AC Milan as they look to add a defensive option.
