Barcelona midfield target hires a new agent amidst exit rumours

December 16, 2023

Barcelona might as well have received positive news regarding their pursuit of Joshua Kimmich as it has been learned that the German, who has never had an official representation, has finally hired an agent, report SPORT.

The news comes amidst the development that the player might be steering away from Bayern Munich and the Bundesliga.

Following a prolonged period without a recognised football agent, during which he severed ties with Ulrich Ferber, Kimmich has actively sought a new representative to advocate for his interests. This deliberate move suggests a clear shift in focus towards the future.

Kimmich open to move

Only yesterday, we confirmed that Kimmich is willing to leave Bayern Munich for a different league. This means the player is determined to conclude his tenure with Bayern at the end of this season.

At the age of 28 and committed under contract until 2025, he recognizes this juncture as an ideal opportunity to embark on a fresh chapter and make a significant contribution to the club that has nurtured him throughout his development.

But this move necessitates enlisting the services of an agent capable of leveraging various channels within the global football market.

Bayern are trying, trying hard

As far as Bayern Munich are concerned, they have been trying to tie down the 28-year-old footballer for months, but a mutual agreement has never been achieved.

Even with Christoph Freund taking charge of sports management, there has been no notable improvement in the player’s circumstances either. Freund has acknowledged the intention to extend Kimmich’s contract, but as of today, no formal proposal has been made.

Meanwhile, in a hypothetical scenario, even if he agrees to accept a new deal, he will need to adjust to the club’s evolving economic landscape. If that is indeed the case, why not move to Barcelona instead?

This is why those sitting in the Bayern offices are ready to sanction a sale if there’s a reasonable offer on the table. This gives Barcelona renewed hope as they continue to maintain communication with the player.

And now with an agent coming in, it can be implied that he is leaning towards a departure.
