PSG send ‘fire’ warning to Newcastle and ‘anyone still doubting’ after St James’ Park nightmare
Newcastle United can expect a hostile welcome from PSG at the Parc des Princes when the teams do battle in their crucial Champions League group stage clash
PSG have warned Newcastle United that the Parc des Princes will be ‘on fire’ when the Magpies visit on Tuesday night as the group of death heats up.
PSG are just two points clear of Newcastle in second place ahead of tomorrow’s huge Champions League clash in the French capital. Newcastle know, with two games to go, that another famous win against Luis Enrique’s team could turn Group F on its head once more and put the visitors right back in the frame to qualify for the last 16.
PSG, meanwhile, are seeking revenge after Newcastle hammered the Ligue 1 champions 4-1 in the reverse fixture at St James’ Park.
“Everyone is ready,” a message on the PSG website read. “Everyone is fired up for this crucial encounter awaiting an entire fan base on Tuesday with a Parc des Princes that, for anyone still doubting, will be on fire.”
Both teams head into the game off the back of thumping wins against traditional big hitters in their respective leagues. Newcastle, of course, hammered Chelsea 4-1 while PSG defeated title rivals Monaco 5-2 at the Parc des Princes.
It was the first time that PSG had scored five goals under Luis Enrique and the Parisian giants have been in ominous domestic form after winning six top-flight fixtures in a row. However, it is worth noting PSG have lost two of their last three Champions League matches, including the aforementioned defeat at the hands of Newcastle. Enrique said in the immediate aftermath of that heavy loss that he ‘can’t wait to play them again in Paris’.
