Real Madrid monitoring teenage forward likened to Mbappe, Barcelona also keen

October 24, 2023

Real Madrid have shifted their transfer strategy in recent years. From signing Galacticos, the club have moved to bringing in young players with unlimited potential and turning them into stars.

The strategy has paid off with the likes of Federico Valverde, Vinicius Jr, and Rodrygo Goes enjoying great success at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Keeping in line with the same policy, Real Madrid signed Endrick from Palmeiras last December and secured the services of Arda Guler from Fenerbahce during the summer window.

Real Madrid monitoring Eli Junior Kroupi
Now, as per reports in France, as relayed by SPORT, Real Madrid have set their sights on a young French jewel named Eli Junior Kroupi.

Just 17 years of age, the young attacker, who can play on the left flank, as a centre-forward or an attacking midfielder, has been grabbing the headlines in France this season.

Kroupi has played in eight of Lorient’s nine league matches this season and produced a return of three goals and two assists in the process.

The teenage wonderkid has been likened to long-term Real Madrid target Kylian Mbappe, owing to his pace, physicality, and versatile nature.

Barcelona also in the picture
However, Real Madrid are not the only club interested in Kroupi, as their arch-rivals and reigning La Liga champions Barcelona are also looking at the 17-year-old prodigy.

The Catalans have gone head-to-head with Real Madrid for the signings of several young talents in recent times, as was the case with Arda Guler during the summer.

And, the two La Liga behemoths could again do battle for Kroupi if they do decide to act on their initial interest in the French prospect.

Kroupi’s contract with Lorient runs until 2026 after he signed a new deal in August earlier this year. It remains to be seen if the interest from Real Madrid or Barcelona leads to something substantial in the weeks to come.
