Thierry Henry explains why Messi didn’t fail at PSG
Paris Saint-Germain signed Lionel Messi a couple of years ago in their bid to clinch the first Champions League title in their history.
However, the Argentine didn’t manage to lead them all the way to glory and he was criticized for failing to win the major title at PSG.
However, his former teammate Thierry Henry has backed the current Inter Miami star, stressing that he managed to work wonders with Argentina and explaining why he didn’t to do so in Paris.
“Messi did not fail in Paris,” Henry noted according to L/M Football.
“When he played with Argentina in a system, there were no many Messis, there was only him. If you make the great structure around him, he will shine.”
Despite receiving a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia, Messi decided to continue his career in the MLS and joined Inter Miami.
There he has already shined, leading his new team all the way to the Leagues Cup title – this being the first ever trophy of the MLS franchise.
In 11 official matches for Inter Miami across all competitions, Messi has recorded as many as 11 goals and four assists.
Meanwhile, Inter Miami are pushing to clinch postseason qualification, currently sitting six points behind the playoff spots.
