ARSENAL INCLUDE LINO SOUSA AND JAMES HILLSON IN SENIOR CHAMPIONS LEAGUE SQUAD LIST

September 12, 2023

Arsenal have named Lino Sousa and James Hillson in their senior Champions League squad list, as reported by the club’s official website.

18-year-old left-back Sousa was named on the senior list as he isn’t eligible for the B-List (for U21 players) as he hasn’t yet been at the club for two whole years.

22-year-old goalkeeper Hillson is classed as a senior player due to his age despite the fact that he isn’t part of the first-team squad.

Cedric has also been registered, although summer signing Jurrien Timber, who is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to injury, has been left out.

Timber could be added in February if Arsenal are still in the competition, by which time Sousa could be moved across to the B-List.

Declan Rice, Kai Havertz and David Raya have all been registered as Arsenal return to Europe’s elite club competition for the first time since 2017.

The B-List for U21 players will be published shortly. It will include Karl Hein, who is a first-team player but is still classed as U21 due to his age. Reuell Walters, Amario Cozier-Duberry, Khayon Edwards, Bradley Ibrahim and Charles Sagoe Jr, who have all previously been on the bench for the first-team, will also be on this list.

Myles Lewis-Skelly should be added when he signs his professional contract later this month.

Arsenal do not usually include 16-year-olds in their Champions League squad but they could make an exception for the hugely talented Ethan Nwaneri.
