Man City could now finally seal the deal for ‘incredible’ Guardiola target for £80m

August 15, 2023

It has been reported that Manchester City could now secure the services of Lucas Paqueta for an £80 million fee (£70 million plus £10 million in add-ons).

This comes from the Daily Mail, as it was claimed on Thursday that West Ham United had rejected City’s £88 million bid.

But now it seems like Manchester City and West Ham United could finally reach an agreement over a move involving Lucas Paqueta.

Manchester City could finally sign Lucas Paqueta for £70 million + £10 million fee
Branded as ‘incredible’ by Declan Rice (via Evening Standard), Pep Guardiola in particular aims to sign the 25-year-old after Kevin De Bruyne’s latest injury.

Apart from Phil Foden, the treble-winners do not have a single player at their disposal capable of playing as the second advanced midfielder in the Catalan boss’ tactical setup.

Now, it has been reported that Manchester City could seal the deal to sign Lucas Paqueta by forking out a £70 million fee plus £10 million in achievable add-ons.

It has been emphasised that any attempt to sign the Brazilian international under £70 million is set to be turned down by West Ham.

The Sky Blues are expected to submit their second bid to sign Paqueta shortly, after their initial offer of £60 million plus £10 million in add-ons was turned down.

The signing of Lucas Paqueta has become mandatory now
Pep Guardiola is right to have made the signing of Lucas Paqueta a priority after Manchester City are unlikely to have Kevin De Bruyne available for potentially months now.

The absence of the Belgian playmaker means City lack a lot of creativity in their side, putting all the burden of chance creation on Phil Foden.

Lucas Paqueta, however is known to be an excellent dribbler, an astute passer and one whose output could see a major upturn in a better team than West Ham.

With his ability to provide cover in both midfield and on the wing, Manchester City must get his arrival over the line and fast.
