Aston Villa hold ‘concrete interest’ in Serie A midfielder after Juventus decision
Latest Aston Villa news from BirminghamLive as Arthur Melo is reportedly on Villa’s transfer list
Aston Villa’s interest in Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo is becoming more and more concrete, it is claimed.
The Brazilian is set to leave the Italian outfit this summer after his agent Federico Pastorello confirmed he is not part of the club’s plans moving forward. “Arthur? He’s not part of the coach’s tactical plans even if there’s great mutual esteem,” he said. “So inevitably we’ll have to find a new loan deal or in any case a permanent sale.”
Melo spent this past season on loan at Liverpool, but a muscle injury cut his spell short. He was sidelined for three months and made just two appearances for Jurgen Klopp and three for the under-21s as he tried to return to full fitness.
However, he is said to be keen to have another shot in the Premier League. Along with Villa, Newcastle are also said to have Melo “on their agenda.” Italian outlet Sport Italia claim Villa are targeting the 26-year-old this summer.
