Fufu to the world! Adeyemi on the verge of history with Borussia Dortmund
Karim Adeyemi has turned up in style in the second half of the season to turn the fortunes of Borussia Dortmund around this season…
Karim Adeyemi is on the brink of history with Borussia Dortmund, with just three points separating them from a Bundesliga title.
The Bundesliga could announce a league winner that isn’t Bayern Munich for the first time in over a decade, in a season that has seen Bayern, Dortmund, and even Union Berlin claim top spot during the course of the season. Last weekend saw Dortmund claim top spot after Bayern slipped to a loss, at home to Leipzig, earlier in the gameweek, and Borussia ensured they capitalised in style.
Since the turn of the year, Karim Adeyemi has hit top form, after going goalless in the league in the first half of the Bundesliga season. Adeyemi chose to play for Germany but hasn’t stopped showing ties to his Nigerian roots. The 21-year-old scored a belter in February against Chelsea and mentioned in a post-match interview with CBS Sports Golazo on how his father’s genes and fufu, an indigenous Nigerian meal, gives him an athletic edge to help beat his opponents. He has also been seen in several videos online, eating fufu, and looks proud to still hold on to his Nigerian side.
“I eat a lot of African foods. It is called fufu, and it’s a Nigerian food which is very good.”
Adeyemi has scored six goals and assisted another five since the start of the Rückrunde, won the rookie of the Bundesliga season, and is set to become a German champion, should Borussia Dortmund defeat Mainz in the last game week of the season.
