Eden Hazard confirms Real Madrid future decision

May 8, 2023

Eden Hazard has endured a nightmare time since his arrival at Real Madrid. He was signed in the summer of 2019 for a club record fee from Chelsea. The expectation was that he would establish himself as the face of the team, something that they were on the lookout for at that point of time, with Cristiano Ronaldo leaving for Juventus the previous year.

At that point of time, it was considered as a great move on the part of Real Madrid. Hazard has proven his quality at Chelsea and established himself as a Premier League legend over his seven years at Stamford Bridge.

Things went completely south after moving to Real Madrid though. Hazard struggled with one injury after another.

On the other hand, Vinicius Junior rose to become one of the best wingers in the world. As a result, Hazard currently finds himself as arguably the last choice wingers in Carlo Ancelotti’s plans.

Hazard confirms Real Madrid future decision
While Hazard might be struggling for minutes at Real Madrid, he will still have a year left on his deal after the current campaign. And it looks like the Belgian is planning to stay and see out the final year of his contract.

As tweeted out by Fabrizio Romano, Hazard said:

“Honestly, I’m planning to stay at Real Madrid next season.”

The Belgian further went on to add about his future:

“I expect to stay as I want to celebrate the last year of contract I have left.”

At this point of time, it is almost impossible to imagine that Hazard will establish himself as a first-team starter at Real Madrid in the future. And with the number of injuries that he has had to deal with, it just does not feel like he is capable of producing his best form ever again.

Thus, it remains to be seen what the long-term future holds for Hazard. But at the moment, it appears that he is planning to stay on at Santiago Bernabeu and let his contract run out.
