A chance to match 1990 streak: All the key stats ahead of Roma vs. Milan

April 30, 2023

AC Milan and Roma face off today at the Stadio Olimpico a game that has huge ramifications when it comes to the top four spots.

In his pre-match press conference Stefano Pioli stated his belief that the race for the Champions League places will go right down to the final game of the season, but knows his side can take a big step forward with a positive result in the capital.

➤ Milan have won four of their last six Serie A matches against Roma (D2), as many victories as in the previous 16 meetings (D5 L7). Indeed, the Rossoneri could go unbeaten in seven consecutive league matches against the Giallorossi for the first time since 1996 (run of 17).

➤ Milan have won their last two away league games against Roma and have not managed three consecutive away wins against the Giallorossi since 1990 (run of four).

➤ In 2023, Roma have kept seven clean sheets in eight home league matches – in the same period, no team of the big five European leagues have achieved so many clean sheets at home.

➤ Milan have kept a clean sheet in three of their last four league games (W2 D2), as many clean sheets as they had in their previous 13 Serie A matches (W5 D3 L5).

➤ Milan have lost four of their last seven away games in Serie A (W2 D1), as many defeats as in their previous 54 away games in the competition (W38 D12).

➤ Milan have conceded the most headed goals in Serie A this season (10), while only Napoli (2) have conceded fewer headed goals than Roma (3).

➤ Roma have scored the most goals during the injury time in Serie A this season (6) and are one of four sides yet to concede in the same span.

➤ Thanks to seven goals and five assists, Paulo Dybala has been involved in 12 goals against AC Milan in Serie A; only against Udinese (17) has the Roma striker been involved in more goals in the competition.

➤ Lorenzo Pellegrini has scored in each of his last three matches for Roma in all competitions; this is already his best scoring streak with the Giallorossi – against Milan he has scored just one Serie A goal, in his first match against them back in October 2016 for Sassuolo.

➤ With his brace in the last matchday, Rafael Leão is enjoying his best season in terms of goals scored in Serie A (12 goals) – including assists, he has been involved in 18 goals so far, just one fewer than the 19 of the last league campaign (11 goals, 8 assists).
